Get Cozy: Prepping Your Lounge for Winter Holidays

Hey there, winter enthusiasts! The holiday season is upon us, and that means it's time to transform your lounge area into a warm and inviting space where friends and family can gather to create wonderful memories. Whether you're hosting a holiday party or just want a cozy retreat for those chilly evenings, American Home Furniture and Mattress has got you covered with some fantastic ideas to prep your lounge area for the winter holidays. Let's dive right in!

Soft Throws and Blankets

What shouts “A nice night in or unwind time”? A soft and cozy throw blankets. Honestly, one of the best décor pieces for any season. For the Winter something thicker or with sherpa can be perfect to help keep you warm on those long nights by the fire. Since we are closer to the holidays and you have a vision for what the house is going to look like, stick with accent colors that work with the plan. Styling will go perfectly draped over anything from a sofa, chair, ottoman, or even in a little storage basket.

Another great option for blankets for the winter and for your guests during those long cold nights would be a duvet. The covers are interchangeable and like everything else can be used year-round. The weight of the duvet provides comfort after the house has gone silent.

Tip: Starting with a new duvet, don’t forget the inserts!

Comfy Pillows

What else would you be expected to pair with your warm and cozy throw blankets then some comfy pillows. The perfect ratio for styling any sofa with the right amount of throw pillows would be 2-2-1. For the winter palettes I would stick with your favorite holiday combo. (Blue/Silver, Red/Green, etc.) find two solid colors for the outside, two with a fun pattern that you love, and one long rectangular one with a simple design or with wording. Faux fur, knit, or velvet pillows can instantly make your lounge area feel cozier. Mix and match sizes and patterns to add depth and personality.

Cozy Rugs

Stay toasty warm from head-to-toe with a soft rug underfoot. Pick out a thick, plush rug and keep in theme with the colors or pattern you are looking for. For added comfort and ease of mind, don’t forget the rug pads.

Tip: Rugs seem a little overwhelming when you have so many to choose from. For more help on selecting the perfect rug for your home check out our “Unrolling the Magic of Rugs” post.

Hot Beverage Station

Set up a hot beverage station with a variety of teas, hot chocolates, and seasonal coffees. Include some festive mugs and a selection of toppings like marshmallows, whipped cream, and cinnamon sticks. Having warm drinks readily available can make your lounge area a cozy gathering spot.

A Crackling Fireplace

If you have a fireplace, make it the focal point of your lounge area. Light a fire, stack some logs, and cozy up with loved ones. If you don't have a real fireplace, but it is on the list of wants there are many options to choose from. Even if you don’t have a fireplace built in, there are some other options for one. Whether it be DIY or an entertainment fireplace console. Either would make a great focal point for any space!

Warm and Inviting Scents

Add a pleasant aroma to your lounge area with scented candles, essential oil diffusers, or potpourri. Fragrances like cinnamon, pine, and vanilla can evoke warm and cozy feelings, making your space even more inviting.

With a little creativity and some thoughtful additions, you can transform your lounge area into a winter wonderland that's perfect for celebrating the holiday season. Whether you're hosting gatherings or simply looking for a cozy retreat, these tips will help you create a warm and inviting atmosphere that everyone will enjoy. So, get ready to snuggle up, sip on hot cocoa, and make lasting memories in your beautifully prepped winter lounge! Happy holidays!

Until next time, Keep it cozy and heartwarming ☃️ 🎁!
